The concepts of Irrational Change are the work of the team at Pike Squared, and its founders Edwina and Nick Pike.

With over 5 decades of experience transforming organisations, doing the hard to-do behavioural changes, we knew that there had to be a better way of doing things.

Most of the common methodologies (Agile™, PROSCI™) were created at the turn of the century, when the concept of business and process reengineering was at its height. A time when we wrote memo’s, had in-trays and went to meetings. We had time to think. We were rational.

Fast-forward 20+ years. The pace of life and business has accelerated. Technology delivers us information faster than we can process it. We are in an almost constant state of cognitive overload, we are no longer rational. We are irrational.

The easy changes have been done: computerisation, process efficiency. The changes we are being asked to do are the hard-to-do ones, those that require people to take risks, try something new, make a different choice.

The failure rate remains higher than ever, with many slick solutions sitting on the shelf, unused and collecting dust.

As engineers and change agents, we looked for solutions. We turned to the worlds of behavioural science, entrepreneurship, anthropology as well as the traditional psychology and neuroscience. Applying what we learned to our world of changing organisational behaviours, Irrational Change was born.

As we put theory into practice with our clients, we realised we were onto something, what you see here is the result of that journey.

We keep exploring, learning, developing. Irrational Change as you see it today is good, over time it will be even better.
