The question every parent dreads
Open AI have issued their '2025 State of the Enterprise AI' report today, which looks at two sources to see whether organisations are getting it yet, or not:
1. Real world data from their over 1 million business customers including the scale and complexity of the tokens they have been using.
2. A survey of 9,000 workers across 100 enterprises to document the patterns of AI Adoption.
Here are some of the headlines:
In numbers:
→ 19x increase in weekly users of Custom GPT's and projects.
→ 20% of all enterprise messages were processed via a Custom GPT o Project.
→ 9000 organisations used 10+ billion tokens, nearly 200 exceeded 1 trillion.
→ The token consumption used for reasoning has increased 320x in the last year, suggesting more complex usage.

→ On average, they reckon to save 40–60 minutes a day due to AI.

→ Australia is the fastest growing market (187%), followed by Brazil (161%) and Netherlands (153%), the global average is 143% [% increase in the number of paying business customers Nov 24-Nov 25].
The surprises:
→ 75% of workers are able to complete tasks they could not do before.
→ AI disproportionately aids lower performing workers.
→Those that save more than 10 hours a week use multiple models and tools.
There are some nice case studies at the back of the report, including:
→ INTERCOM: Faster customer service responses us saving $100m+ annually.
→ LOWES: AI app answers nearly 1million questions a month, customer satisfaction is up 200 basis points.
→ INDEED: Matching jobseekers and employers, 38% more likely to be hired, finding matching jobs 7x faster.
→ BBVA: AI driven legal checks allowed redeployment of 3 FTEs.
→ OSCAR: AI platform answers 58% of questions instantly, 39% of benefit questions without human assistance.
→ MODERNA: Reduced their Target Product Profile time from weeks to hours.
WHAT IS MISSING
This doesn't feel innovative. It is a tech company celebrating greater token usage, but for chatbots and the easy pickings. It is missing the impactful and interesting use cases, that would help organisations think about AI differently.
There is still so much to play for.
