You are being recorded ...

How comfortable do you feel being recorded by others. Not on their iphones, but by their glasses, a device on their wrists or a ring on their finger.

These technologies are becoming more and more common.

This feels like a step towards a 1984 world where you are publicly being watched and recorded and can only talk freely in safe spaces.

The devices are sold with their ease of recording the conversations you have in a day, the transcripts to your life, or what you see.

These are products that exist now, or will shortly.

There are so many questions to ask.

→ Where is the data stored?
→ How do you deal with permission (or you simply don't)?
→ How will the recordings be used?

Bad actors can use the data collected to ruin reputations, expose secrets (business and personal), create narratives that are out of context.

On the positive side, those with disabilities; deafness, poor vision, or who benefit from translation will find these devices life savers.

I have really mixed feelings about this.

So many of the behavioural signals we pick up on are visible because peoples guards are down.

If we stop being authentic and honest, where does that leave us?
